Jackets
I generally use jackets to talk about big things in life. They're long undertakings that are made to house the soul of something inside of it. So far, each one has been a reaction to change.
Coming Together After Loss
Initially finished November 2023

This piece is about how we change our futures colletively after sensational change. Created with inspiration of ecosystems over time, Coming Together After Loss is an experimental exploration in zero-waste patchworking.
A church vigil by my community in response to a local mass shooting was the catalyst for this design. While making it, there were glimpses of a world in constant motion of coming apart and coming together. It’s wish is that you spend more time listening to people’s stories; that ultimately, you continue finding a greater love in humanity that widens your view of the world that is possible.
Before Next Year's Winter
Initially finished October 2022

Before Next Year's Winter was about setting off on my own. Both in location after finishing my education and also in technique when it comes to how I wanted to make patchwork in my own style. I had been using the style of sashiko stitching as seen most clearly in the below project; Birth of Work. This jacket is the first true deviation from a more traditional style, it uses remenant pieces and cut up pants as the main body with abstract "portal" patches. I consider this jacket as a stepping stone from Birth of Work to Coming Together After Loss
Birth Of Work
Initially finished May 2021

This piece was initially made as a final look to my college capstone project titled "In Reminiscence". It's been the longest patchwork jacket that I've worked on and has been continually added to since it's "completion".
